On Thursday, January 29, the Senate Committee on Armed Services reported the nomination of Major General PN709. The nomination was reported by Senator Wicker without a printed report and has now moved past the committee stage as it awaits further consideration by the full Senate.

On Monday, February 2, 2026, the House of Representatives passed two veterans-related bills under a suspension of the rules. H.R. 3123, the Ernest Peltz Accrued Veterans Benefits Act, passed 405-1 with a party breakdown of D 201-1 and R 204-0. H.R. 980, the Veterans Readiness and Employment Improvement Act of 2025, passed 402-2 with support from both parties (D 201-1, R 201-1). In the Senate, a motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of David Clay Fowlkes to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Arkansas was agreed to 49-40, with Republicans voting 44-0 and Democrats 5-38.
