The House of Representatives was active with legislative voting during the week of July 20, 2026, passing several measures including H.R. 4541, the EARLY Act Reauthorization of 2025, and H.R. 1118, the Value Over Cost Act of 2025. Members also approved H.R. 8823 to strengthen provider accountability in FECA and passed a procedural rule, H.Res. 1438, to allow for the consideration of several major bills regarding defense appropriations, social security demonstration authority, and congressional stock restrictions. In the Senate, lawmakers agreed to a motion to invoke cloture on the judicial nomination of Benjamin M. Flowers and confirmed Kara Marie Westercamp. Committees in both chambers held extensive hearings on topics ranging from Haiti’s terrorist gangs and VA security deficiencies to sports event prediction markets and the reauthorization of critical minerals mapping.

Looking ahead, the Senate has a full schedule of committee activity. The Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs is set to hear testimony from Anthony Fauci, while the Judiciary Committee will hold a business meeting to consider the nomination of Todd Blanche to be Attorney General. Other scheduled hearings will examine the impact of artificial intelligence on the workplace, deepfakes and senior fraud, and intelligent telecommunications networks. Additionally, the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions will meet to consider various education-related bills, including the Special Education Administration Protection Act and the Science of Reading, alongside the nominations of Sean Kaufman and Keith Sonderling.
