The House and Senate concluded a busy legislative week before entering a congressional recess. Lawmakers passed several bipartisan measures, including the Prison Staff Safety Enhancement Act (S. 307), the LACA act (S. 32), and the AGOA Extension Act (H.R. 6500). More divided votes saw the passage of the Protecting Domestic Mining Act of 2025 (H.R. 1501), the Northeast Lobsterman Protection Act of 2026 (H.R. 9436), and a resolution condemning socialism (H.Res. 1490). However, a proposed constitutional amendment to require nine Supreme Court justices (H.J.Res. 1) failed to pass. Committees also held numerous hearings on topics ranging from sanctuary policies and Houthi terrorism to natural gas bans and nuclear energy leadership.

With a congressional recess now in effect, there are no floor votes or committee hearings scheduled for the upcoming week in either the House or the Senate. This period of recess follows the finalization of several legislative items, including the Protect Economic and Academic Freedom Act of 2026 (H.R. 4795) and a resolution regarding allegations against Representative Chuck Edwards (H.Res. 1498). Normal legislative business is expected to resume following the conclusion of the scheduled break.
