Background
Cliff Bentz was born on January 12, 1952. He worked as an attorney, joining the law firm Yturri Rose in Ontario, Oregon, in 1977 and becoming a partner in 1980. His legal practice specialized in water, agricultural, and real property law, and he also owns a 100-acre alfalfa farm.
Political career
Cliff Bentz began his public service on the Oregon Water Resources Commission before serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2008 to 2018 and the Oregon Senate from 2018 to 2020. During his time in the state legislature, he participated in Republican walkouts in 2019 and 2020 to prevent a quorum on climate change legislation. He was first sworn in to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2021 after winning the election for Oregon's 2nd congressional district.
