Gus Bilirakis was born on February 8, 1963. He also gained early political experience by helping to manage his father’s congressional campaigns.
Political career
Gus Bilirakis began his political career in the Florida House of Representatives, where he represented the 48th district from 1998 to 2006 and chaired several committees. A member of the Republican Party, he first entered Congress in 2007, succeeding his father in representing Florida's 9th congressional district. Since 2013, he has served as the U.S. representative for Florida's 12th congressional district following a period of redistricting.
