Background
Don Bacon was born on August 16, 1963. Before entering politics, he served in the United States Air Force for 29 years, where he commanded wings at Ramstein Air Base in Germany and Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. He retired from military service in 2014 with the rank of brigadier general.
Political career
A retired Air Force brigadier general, Don Bacon entered political office after winning his first election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2016. He was first sworn in to represent Nebraska's 2nd congressional district in January 2017 and has been reelected four times, serving through the 119th Congress. Throughout his tenure, he has remained a member of the Republican Party while often being identified as a centrist or moderate within his caucus.
