Angie Craig is a Democratic Representative from Minnesota's 2nd District and the first openly LGBT+ member of Congress from Minnesota.
Background
Angie Craig was born in West Helena, Arkansas, and graduated from Nettleton High School in Jonesboro. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of Memphis before beginning her career as a reporter for The Commercial Appeal. After living in London, she moved to Minnesota in 2005 and worked in human resources and corporate communications for St. Jude Medical until 2017.
Political career
Before entering public office, Angie Craig worked as a journalist and later served as an executive in human resources and communications for St. Jude Medical. She first ran for Congress in 2016 and was later elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 after defeating the incumbent in a rematch. A member of the Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party, she has served as the U.S. representative from Minnesota's 2nd congressional district since 2019.
