Background
Rosa DeLauro was born in New Haven, Connecticut, to an Italian-American family. She earned a bachelor's degree from Marymount College, attended the London School of Economics, and received a master's degree in international politics from Columbia University. Before her election to Congress, she served as chief of staff and campaign manager for Senator Chris Dodd, worked as the executive director of EMILY's List, and coordinated Michael Dukakis's 1988 presidential campaign in the tristate area.

Before her election to Congress, Rosa DeLauro served as the executive director of EMILY's List and worked as the chief of staff and campaign manager for Senator Chris Dodd. A member of the Democratic Party, she was first sworn into the House of Representatives in 1991 to represent Connecticut's 3rd congressional district. She has served as the dean of Connecticut's congressional delegation since 2013.
