Background
Scott Franklin served in the United States Navy for 26 years, including 14 years on active duty and 12 years in the Naval Reserve, eventually retiring with the rank of Commander. Following his military service, he entered the private sector in 2000 by joining the insurance agency Lanier Upshaw, where he rose to the position of chief executive officer. Before his election to federal office, he also served his community as a city commissioner for the Southeast district of Lakeland, Florida.

Scott Franklin began his political career in 2017 when he was elected as a city commissioner for Lakeland, Florida. He was first sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives in 2021, representing Florida's 15th congressional district. Following a shift in district boundaries, he began representing Florida's 18th district in 2023.
