On Agreeing to the Objection

On January 7, 2021, the House of Representatives voted on a formal objection to the certification of Pennsylvania’s electoral votes from the 2020 Presidential Election. The objection failed, meaning the House rejected the challenge and proceeded with the official count of the state’s electoral results.

The vote followed a strictly partisan pattern among those who supported the objection, while the opposition was bipartisan. All 218 Democrats and 64 Republicans voted against the objection, while 138 Republicans voted in favor of it. Because a majority of the House did not agree to the objection, the challenge was dismissed.
